Coloring Plants Used By Desert Indians
Over a period of thousands of years, Native Americans experimented and learned how to use plants to provide virtually everything they need to survive. Their environment became the local grocery store, drugstore, hardware store, and department store to provide needed food, medicine, tools, and materials to make clothing, kitchen tools, hunting equipment, regalia, toys, and adornments. Desert Indians are particularly blessed with an environment that provides the greatest diversity of plants that could be processed for a variety of uses.
This book has 40 key plants that desert Indians primarily living in the Sonora Desert of Southern California, Baja California, and Arizona have used for centuries. Many of the same or similar species are found in the Mojave Desert of Southern California, Arizona, Nevada, and Utah and also in the Great Basin Desert of California, Nevada, and parts of Utah, Oregon, and Idaho. Use of the plants by the various bands is similar although the language and cultural differences among these people are very diverse. The commonality for all is the continuing importance of key plants to provide necessities of everyday life. The Color & Learn series will help you learn about these plants as you apply your creative art strokes to bring the plants to life.

Shipping & Returns
We do not ship plants.Â
All orders are processed within 1 to 5 business days (excluding weekends and holidays) after receiving your order confirmation email. You will receive an email notification once your order has shipped.
Orders placed over the weekend will be reviewed on Tuesday of the following week. Please note we do not have staff onsite Sundays and Mondays.Â
In-store pickup
Your order will be prepared and ready for pick up usually within 3 business days. You will receive a "Ready for Pickup" email when your order is ready.Â
Our in-store pickup hours are 8:30am-4:00pm on Tuesday-Saturday. Please have your order confirmation email when you arrive. Orders not picked up within 7 days will be refunded minus a 25% restocking fee on plants.Â
How do I check the status of my order once it has shipped?
When your order has shipped, you will receive an email notification with a USPS tracking number. Please allow 48 hours for the tracking information to become available.
If you haven’t received your order within 7 days after receiving your shipping confirmation email, please contact us at store@theodorepayne.org with your name and order number, and we will look into it for you.Â
Local delivery We do not offer local delivery.
International Shipping We do not offer international shipping.
Shipping to P.O. boxes USPS orders can be shipped to P.O. boxes.Â
Returns &Â Exchanges
We accept returns and exchanges within 14 days after receipt for eligible items which are like-new and in their original condition, unused, unwashed, and undamaged. Original shipping fees are non-refundable. We are not responsible for any lost or stolen packages.
If your order is damaged or defective upon arrival, please email store@theodorepayne.org as soon as possible to organize a replacement. We address these on a case-by-case basis but will try our best to work towards a satisfactory solution.
Exclusions: All sales are final and no returns or exchanges will be accepted on plants, seeds, bulbs, gift cards, sale items, food, etc. If you're unsure, please check the product page to verify if the item is returnable.
