Theodore Payne Foundation Nursery & Demonstration Gardens are open year-round

Visit Theodore Payne Foundation Nursery

Our beautiful 22-acre canyon site includes a retail nursery, seed store, and gift shop to meet all of your native plant gardening needs.

Freely explore the grounds and demonstration gardens when you visit. In and round the retail nursery, you’ll find displays of mature specimens—inspiration for your own garden. You’ll find plantings for sun, shade, slopes, narrow beds, pollinators, birds, groundcovers, wild flowers, and fire-wise landscapes.

From the nursery, you can access Wild Flower Hill Trail; a ¾ mile walk through chaparral and coastal sage scrub. A picnic bench and panoramic views of the Verdugo Mountains and San Fernando Valley reward you at the top of the hill. Keep your eyes and ears open for signs of deer, coyote, and quail. Rattlesnakes are not uncommon here in spring and summer, so it is best to stay alert.

We are open year round to the public. Admission is free and friendly, on-leash dogs are welcome. Sun protection & closed-toe shoes are always recommended when visiting.
