This wildflower seed mix was introduced by Theodore Payne in 1950
to celebrate 100 years of California statehood. He writes that it
"is composed of ten of the most showy kinds that will succeed
under any ordinary conditions and produce a brilliant display in
orange, yellow, blue, lavender and purple"
